HIV and AIDS Communication and Stigma

Ghana and Rwanda

In Rwanda the Protestant Council of Churches carried out its ‘Tamar Campaign’ with the aim of defining and coordinating strategies and capacities to combat violence against women and children. The Campaign took place in Kigali, Butare and Gisenyi and consisted of training workshops for women and men and awareness-building sessions with young people in secondary schools. The Tamar Campaign challenged church and community leaders to acknowledge the existence of gender-based violence in Rwanda, to address it seriously, and to speak up in public against it.
