Lebanon

KAFA (Enough) Violence & Exploitation was established by a group of activists and professionals who have long experience in women issues, especially violence and abuse of women and children. KAFA's overall goal is to contribute to the eradication of every kind of gender-based violence and exploitation of women and children. In the context of Lebanon's legacy of political and social violence, KAFA will produce a documentary drama addressing the issue of 'dating violence' - the abuse or mistreatment that occurs between 'dating partners', individuals who are moving towards an intimate relationship. Although dating violence may be experienced at any stage of life, much of the research has focused on young people including adolescents and university and college students. The docu-drama will discuss all forms of abuse and violence; emotional, physical, and sexual. The study material to be included in the film will use language and expressions familiar to adolescents allowing space for empathy among peers and offering a way of better relating to the problems and issues. Special consideration will be given to the different cultural practices and traditions of social groups in different parts of Lebanon. Based on experience and research it is evident that girls suffer the highest risk of being victims of relational abuse/violence, but the film will address both genders in a balanced and objective manner.
