Country: REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Considered a taboo subject, HIV and AIDS is not sufficiently spoken about by church leaders. The infected and affected in the church remain silent, further supporting the spread of the pandemic. The 18th Communauté Evangélique de l’Alliance au Congo (CEAC) intends to break the ice on stigma by spearheading discussions throughout its parishes across the Democratic Republic of Congo on HIV and AIDS. The project will conscientize church leaders on the impact of HIV and AIDS on families. A country-wide advocacy campaign making use of posters and a special publication intended to create awareness on stigma, will be undertaken. While the project targets church leaders in 680 parishes, students in 53 secondary schools run by CEAC will also benefit.
