Promoting Communication for Social Change
Taking Sides
Capacity-Building for Reconciliation in Rwanda Print E-mail
Over the years the Great Lakes Region of Africa has been destabilized by wars and genocide. There remains the urgent need to address lasting problems of hatred, fear and mistrust. As trusted and influential people in the community, religious leaders can play a significant role. To achieve this goal, this project envisages a raining programme for all religious leaders in order to increase their knowledge about how to address conflicts; to change attitudes and to improve relationships and communication. It will also produce the newsletter ‘Umuhuza’ (The Reconciler) as a framework for an exchange of views on how to strengthen ecumenism and communication.
