Public awareness of domestic violence in the Congo |

Involving men in the struggle for gender equality and the establishment of a movement to end gender-based violence in Eastern Congo is the focus of a project that will conduct a media-led campaign in five locations. Each one-day session will bring together men and women to discuss the themes of women’s rights, human rights, and strategies to address human rights abuses against women. UWAFI will sponsor 12 television and radio public service announcements, and make use of public billboards, posters and brochures in five local languages. It will also conduct a training session on ‘Men building peace’ with participants from Fizi and leading human rights organizations, do educational work in schools, workplaces and local communities.
