Promoting Communication for Social Change
Taking Sides
Working together for peace and human rights in the Philippines Print E-mail

In a situation of conflict and extreme tension on the island of Mindanao, shared by indigenous Lumads, Moro (Mindanao Muslims) and Christians, this project will try to restore respect for human rights, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence. It will work with 120 leaders of the different groups and at least 25 community communicators and 15 professional journalists. Two forums, two training seminars, and three radio programmes will promote human rights awareness, dialogue and cooperation among the island’s population using peace journalism techniques to strengthen interfaith advocacy efforts for peace. It is envisioned that human rights become a core value in interfaith dialogue and media advocacy.
