€ 7,980 Ref. 1475
The members of Memoria Viva have been working with the autonomous communities and other Indigenous organisations in Chiapas for the last 15 years. Memoria Viva was created in 2009 to concretise their commitment to continue supporting the communities‟ network of radio stations as well as to work alongside them to develop other work determined by the needs of the communities. The project seeks to contribute to the process of autonomy building of the different Indigenous groups in Chiapas through strengthening an existing network of twelve community radio stations in five different geographic areas. The network has been the result of many years of struggle by these communities and represents the legal attainment of the right to own and use media. This project seeks to strengthen the technical capacity of the people involved in the station to maintain and repair the equipment. In this way the dependency of external technical help will diminish, selfmaintenance will increase as will the efficiency of the network.
