Ref. 1494

Mar del Plata city in the Province of Buenos Aires lacks training and resources for future journalists. The gaps are evident in the quality of media reports produced by practicing journalists. This project by Asociación Civil de la Azotea is intended to increase awareness of the impact of stereotypical and biased reporting on women by building journalists‟ capacities on reporting stories on violence against women, sexual and reproductive health, trafficking of women and sex work, masculinities and human rights enshrined in Argentina‟s legislation. The project will produce a manual of good practices to be distributed to journalist unions, local media and schools of journalism. De la Azotea is a non-profit civil society association established in 2003 by a group of women and men committed to creating alternative media for people and groups marginalized from mainstream media. The Association runs the community radio FM de la Azotea 88.7 and its interventions continue to be anchored in a participatory approach to communication.
