Welcome to WACC’s 2008 Project List

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) has entered its second year as a Canadian-based global, ecumenical organization. This is also the start of its second full year under a new approach to our programme work, which currently comprises six major thematic areas.

This thematic approach has proven so popular with project partners that we have had more applications than ever for programme support. Clearly we are on the right track with recent changes although unfortunately it is not always possible for WACC to address all the world’s critical communication development and advocacy needs.

Support from funding partners has had a significant impact on and made a difference to the world in which we live, especially, in the cities, communities and villages where people are working so hard to carry out activities in different cultural and socio-economic realities.

WACC believes communication is a critical and essential part of life in community, as integral as the water we drink and the food we eat, and that the communication programmes it has undertaken have made “life in its fullness” not only a Gospel promise but an unfolding reality for families and people throughout the world. We are proud of our partners’ achievements and humbled by the continuing demand for our own mission and ministry.

During 2008, and as reflected in the specific projects contained in the 2008 Project List, WACC will focus in particular on the theme Communication is Peace: Building Viable Communities –the theme of WACC’s Congress 2008. We deliberately chose the verb “is” rather than “for”, “about”, or any other word, as the active verb “is” most closely parallels our sense that God’s purpose for this world is indeed a commitment to active, engaged, and demonstrable peace.

As always, we are immensely grateful to our many funding partners for their support of our ministry in communication.

In peace,

Randy Naylor

General Secretary
