Recognizing and Building Communication Rights

Dominican Republic

Leaders of Haitian migrants' groups empowered by learning communication skills and the use of new technologies. They are better able to approach the mass media in order to demand better and more respectful coverage of migration in general and Haitian migration in particular. State schools teachers in schools with high percentage of Haitian students (such as the region of Sabana Perdida) are better able to understand consequences and effects of forced migration on young children. It has worked in collaboration and partnership with the Anglican Church; the Social Studies Center Padre Juan Montalvo; the Haitian Pastoral Center for Legal Assistance and the Jesuit Services for Refugees.
