Communication and Poverty

Journalists and communication researchers better aware of the need to include the voices of the poor and marginalised when covering poverty and of how current poverty reporting in mainstream media in India perpetuates the cycle of poverty by making widespread poverty ‘invisible’ in the media. Increased awareness of need for codes of practice on poverty reporting that ensure that the issues are given the depth of coverage that they deserve. Creation of an initial curriculum drawn from social work and journalism to offer training which improves the quantity and quality of poverty reporting in India.
