Communication for Peace

Burundi

Two workshops were held involving 45 communicators working with the Peace Centre and its partners organizations. The workshops focused on communication principles; conflict management; the work and role of media in the peaceful resolution of conflict; analysis of press articles produced by hate media; communication in the management of family conflict; responsible behaviour of readers, listeners, viewers and Internet-users; and interpersonal communication with a view to preventing and resolving conflict. Participants drew up recommendations for community leaders, radio and television stations based on balanced and neutral journalism aimed at de-escalating conflict situations and promoting a culture of peace.
