About WACC

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) is a non-governmental organisation that builds on communication rights in order to promote social justice.

We believe that everyone has the right to communicate and to be in communication, in the same way that they have the right to food, shelter, and security. In strategic alliances, we aim to be a catalyst for change for the common good, sharing information, knowledge, and experience in the field of communication.

Working with our members and many different partners enables us to advance together towards achieving our goals. Wherever WACC is present, we aim to make a positive difference to people and communities.

Structure

WACC has institutional and individual members throughout the world. Members are organised in eight regional associations:

Under its current governance structure, WACC is registered in the United Kingdom as a Charity (number 296073) and as a Company (number 2082273) and is registered in Canada as a not-for-profit corporation (438311-7) and an incorporated charitable organisation (number 83970 9524 RR0001). WACC UK is the sole member of WACC Canada. Each of these charitable companies has its own Board elected in part by the Regional Associations.

Membership

WACC members receive news and information through our quarterly journal Media Development and occasional publications, member communications, and other materials. Regional associations also produce newsletters. In addition, members are invited to participate in regional and global activities.

Membership is open to all who support WACC’s mission and WACC’s vision of Communication for All.

Work

WACC interprets developments in global communications and works for greater social progress and justice, especially in the Global South. It also works towards gender equality, notably through its Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP).

Discover more about our work in our annual report, which shows the achievements and challenges of WACC and our members. Or find out about the projects we support that promote communication rights and communication for development.

Supporters

WACC enjoys the support of many funding partners and works closely with other organisations and movements.
