Purchase of broadcast quality equipment enabled MIFED to organize and broadcast television debates with young people on questions of good citizenship and citizen’s participation in governance and social development. 24 schools and 10 higher teaching institutions took part in the project which led to 15 broadcast programmes, the creation of debating clubs in schools and universities, and the setting up of broadcast production unit open to young people. MIFED also organized television debates with young people on questions of good citizenship and citizen’s participation in governance and social development. One outcome was the beginning of a programme of sensitization of young people to notions of participatory citizenship and involving them in the process of reconstructing the country and consolidating peace.
