Club Media Ouest (CMO), an association of journalists and communicators working in West Cameroon, organized two sub-regional training workshops in Yaoundé and Garoua on challenges facing communication for peace as well as two learning and information exchange visits with communities living in conflict zones.14 women and 36 men journalists participated, who used peace journalism techniques to report on the conflict zones they had visited. The group also produced guidelines for peace journalism in the region which was distributed to other members of the journalists’ professional organizations. CMO is planning to share the results of its work, lessons learned and good practices with other media outlets in the country. The direct beneficiaries were 50 journalists from 40 privately owned and 10 publicly owned media houses. Among them were four denominational news outlets. Indirect beneficiaries included local communities visited by workshop participants, readers of print and digital news, the listeners of 12 radio stations and 11 television channels.
