12 Jun 2012 Global Giving Bonus Day, June 13
The project will benefit indigenous people living in 50 small villages along the Sepik River where construction of a new copper and gold mine will have a serious impact on the lives of the villagers and the environment. The villagers have been fighting to have their voices heard by the government and the management of the mine. The project will provide critical information and awareness of environmental damage and will empower them with communication strategies to assert their human rights and help them express their concerns.
