About WACC

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) is a non-governmental organisation that builds on communication rights in order to promote social justice.

We believe that everyone has the right to communicate and to be in communication, in the same way that they have the right to food, shelter, and security. In strategic alliances, we aim to be a catalyst for change for the common good, sharing information, knowledge, and experience in the field of communication.

Working with our members and many different partners enables us to advance together towards achieving our goals. Wherever WACC is present, we aim to make a positive difference to people and communities.

Structure

WACC has institutional and individual members throughout the world. Members are organised in eight Regional Associations consisting of WACC Africa, WACC Asia, WACC Caribbean, WACC Europe, WACC Latin America, WACC Middle East, WACC North America and WACC Pacific.

Under its current governance structure, WACC is registered in the United Kingdom as a Charity (number 296073) and as a Company (number 2082273) and is registered in Canada as a not-for-profit corporation (438311-7) and an incorporated charitable organisation (number 83970 9524 RR0001). WACC UK is the sole member of WACC Canada. Each of these charitable companies has its own Board elected in part by the Regional Associations.

Membership

WACC members receive news and information through its web sites, which include WACC Global, the Centre for Communication Rights, and Who Makes The News.  Regional associations also produce newsletters. In addition, members are able to participate in regional and global activities such as seminars and workshops. Membership is open to all who support WACC’s vision of Communication for All.
